MONTHLY LOGBOOK

First Month

During the first month of my internship, I was introduced to SCP editing and Adobe Premiere Pro, where I learned the basic tools and functions of video editing. I also gained experience in CD burning, including importing and exporting video files.

In addition, I was exposed to Corporate Identity (CI) through poster design, which helped me understand branding and visual consistency. I also learned the structure and workflow of SCP and MCP processes.

I was involved in various tasks such as burning CDs for SCP videos, handling internal logistics between departments, and assisting in workflow coordination. I also encountered technical challenges, including damaged CDs, which required repetition of work and taught me attention to quality control.

I officially began MCP editing, where I worked on large video files by splitting and organising them into manageable sections. I also participated in studio tours, shooting sessions, and basic production work, which gave me hands-on exposure to equipment such as cameras, lighting, and audio systems.

Throughout the month, I also supported various production tasks including video shooting, poster design for Deepavali, script development for PSA sustainability content, and participation in GAC STML project discussions. I also began managing responsibilities such as interviewing roles and content planning.

Overall, this month provided strong foundational exposure to editing, production workflow, teamwork, and technical media skills.

Second Month

In the second month, I was more actively involved in field production and post-production tasks. I participated in the FOI project, where I handled shooting sessions in Kuala Nerang and Yan, documenting community food processes and batik production. I was assigned as an audio technician, where I learned to manage sound quality during field recording.

I also worked on editing interview footage and created short-form content for TikTok using behind-the-scenes materials, improving my social media storytelling skills.

During the convocation preparation period, I assisted in technical setup at DMAS and documented rehearsals and behind-the-scenes activities. I was also involved in editing MCP convocation materials and learning new technical systems such as VR and subtitle insertion for speeches.

Throughout the convocation week, I was part of the technical team, assisting with errands, equipment handling, verification of graduands’ names, and subtitle checking for official speeches. This strengthened my teamwork, coordination, and attention to detail in large-scale events.

I also participated in a Pulau Tuba field trip with SEBudi Hasanah, where I handled video and photography coverage for SMK Langkawi students. In addition, I experienced challenges with large file editing, system crashes, and repeated processing, which improved my patience and technical problem-solving skills.

Overall, this month enhanced my fieldwork experience, technical production skills, and ability to work under pressure.

Third Month

In the third month, I was involved in more advanced production and storytelling tasks. I worked on the glamping mentorship programme with SEBudi Hasanah, where I recorded footage, captured behind-the-scenes content, and edited highlight videos. I also had to revise edits multiple times due to incomplete coverage, which taught me the importance of planning and shot balance.

I was assigned to develop a wayang kulit script incorporating cultural elements, Kedah dialect, and storytelling for students. I also recorded BTS content and supported social media posting.

In addition, I documented educational visits involving students learning about Unifilm facilities and basic editing skills. I also continued improving editing flow, pacing, and structure in highlight videos.

I participated in Pulau Tuba fieldwork again, documenting mentoring sessions, pitching activities, and mangrove sessions through video and photography. I also worked on transferring, organising, and editing large volumes of footage.

Furthermore, I handled sensitive projects such as memorial video editing for deceased staff and switching duties for interview sessions, which required accuracy, professionalism, and emotional sensitivity.

Overall, this month strengthened my storytelling, editing refinement, field documentation, and professional responsibility in media production.

Fourth Month

In the fourth month, I continued working on MCP and SCP tasks, focusing on correcting and refining Convocation Session 3 edits. I handled several technical issues such as incorrect names and lower-third information. This experience strengthened my problem-solving skills and improved my attention to detail in post-production quality control.

I also attended a meeting with Kak Syanie regarding the 42 Tahun UUM video project. As interns, we were assigned to develop ideas and present them later in the week. Following the meeting, we held an internal discussion among interns to brainstorm and refine concepts. In addition, I visited Anjung Tamu to archive and gather information related to UUM Vice Chancellors, which enhanced my research and documentation skills.

Throughout the month, I was involved in storyline development for ongoing projects and participated in podcast shooting sessions. This helped me understand camera framing, audio handling, and technical considerations for podcast-style recordings. I also edited behind-the-scenes (BTS) videos, allowing me to improve storytelling structure and pacing for short-form content.

My BTS editing work was later reviewed and approved, which gave me valuable feedback on meeting production standards. I also consistently updated my logbook to ensure all tasks and progress were properly recorded.

During the project development phase, we presented our ideas for 42 Tahun UUM. The direction of the project was later revised from focusing on the Vice Chancellor to highlighting YDP MPP UUM, with the Vice Chancellor to be featured in a future project. We were also assigned to propose new individual projects, where each intern had to choose between producing a telefilm, magazine programme, or documentary, and prepare a formal proposal for presentation. This improved my understanding of pitching ideas and proposal development.

Later, I completed tasks related to the 42 Tahun UUM project and submitted the running order for review and approval. This taught me the importance of coordination and proper workflow in production planning.

Towards the end of the month, I was involved in correcting podcast submission errors involving title credits, fonts, and colours, working closely with supervisors to ensure accuracy. I also attended a project presentation meeting with management, where I received feedback to further improve the level of detail in my proposal.

Additionally, I participated in a night shoot at Taman Sisiran, capturing footage of the Vice Chancellor and students for a corporate video. I was also assigned to record and edit behind-the-scenes content, which helped me improve my skills in night shooting and BTS production.

Fifth Month

In the fifth month of my internship, I continued working on assigned MCP and SCP tasks while also being involved in various studio and production activities. I was informed about the upcoming Ramadan project, including the launch of a new podcast platform called Rehat Sat!. We were assigned to decorate the studio with a Ramadan theme for the Tazkirah Ramadan collaboration with Pusat Islam UUM, which was scheduled to begin recording on 28 January. I was also assigned to complete a BTS video featuring the Vice Chancellor, which was later approved by my supervisor.

During the preparation phase, we brainstormed ideas for studio decoration, focusing on budget-friendly materials and design concepts. I was tasked with preparing a budget proposal for the decorations and submitting it for approval. This helped me understand basic budgeting and cost planning in production work.

After approval, we went to Jitra to purchase decoration materials such as black fabric and LED lights. Despite facing challenges due to limited stock in several shops, we successfully obtained the required items. Upon returning, we proceeded with the studio decoration process.

I was actively involved in decorating the studio, including designing, printing, laminating, and arranging the Tazkirah Ramadan signage. This improved my attention to detail and practical design execution skills. I also participated in the monthly staff assembly, which included a brisk walk with the Vice Chancellor, and learned about a new policy where Tuesdays were designated as no-meeting, no-work days until 2 p.m.

As the Tazkirah Ramadan recordings began, I was assigned as both a floor manager and BTS crew. I handled recording queues and captured behind-the-scenes content for social media, particularly TikTok. This helped improve my coordination, multitasking, and live production management skills.

In addition, I was involved in discussions regarding the design and structure of the Rehat Sat! website, which gave me exposure to basic web content planning and platform development.

I also participated in multiple field productions, including corporate video shoots at locations such as Bangunan Canselori, Dewan Mu’adzam Shah, and Padang Golf Sultan Salehuddin UUM. I was responsible for recording and editing BTS footage, which strengthened my skills in location-based filming and documentation.

Further filming continued at the STML laboratory focusing on animal food research, while Tazkirah Ramadan recordings were ongoing. I continued my role as floor manager and BTS editor throughout these sessions.

In addition, I was assigned to design posters for the Tazkirah Ramadan series, including both the main promotional poster and individual speaker posters. This improved my graphic design skills, consistency in branding, and social media content creation abilities.

I was also involved in the 42 Tahun UUM project, where I organised and arranged visual materials to ensure a clear storytelling flow. I assisted in selecting suitable images and maintaining visual consistency for the project.

Towards the end of the month, I participated in the Pakar 360 programme and worked on producing content featuring Prof. Ram. We conducted filming at Tasik Sime Darby and PKU, focusing on the wakaf hospital initiative. I also recorded and edited BTS content for both the 360 programme and Unifilm productions.

In addition, I participated in filming congratulatory videos for Hari Pengasasan UUM ke-42, including messages from the Vice Chancellor and other key figures. I also documented BTS footage for the event, further strengthening my experience in large-scale event coverage.

Sixth Month

In the sixth month of my internship, I was involved in various production, editing, and fieldwork activities that further strengthened my technical and practical media skills.

I started the month by participating in Bubur Lambuk Day at Pusat Islam, where we worked together in a rewang environment to prepare the dish. After that, we distributed the bubur lambuk to a madrasah in Jitra. This experience highlighted the importance of teamwork and community engagement.

I was also involved in multiple shooting sessions, including the UUM corporate video production, where I had the opportunity to appear as a performer. This gave me a new perspective on production work from the talent’s point of view.

I continued working on MCP and SCP tasks while also participating in the 360 Programme, where I was assigned to record behind-the-scenes footage. I also joined the 360 Terjah shooting session and MSK Pelajar Mobility programme coverage, documenting BTS content involving the Unifilm team and Prof. Ram. These experiences enhanced my ability to handle both production and on-camera responsibilities.

In addition, I participated in the shooting and editing of formal greeting videos, including the TNCPI Ucapan Raya featuring Prof. Ram. This helped me improve my skills in producing formal corporate content and post-production editing workflows.

Throughout the month, I also continued MCP and SCP editing tasks, which became more routine but still required careful attention to detail. I learned the importance of consistency, accuracy, and double-checking work even for repetitive tasks to avoid errors.

I was also actively involved in BTS shooting for the Unifilm Raya photoshoot, where I learned how to capture candid moments without disrupting the main production. This improved my timing, awareness, and adaptability during shoots.

In addition, I assisted in technical tasks such as finding specific video clips, exporting 360 videos, and supporting team members in completing deliverables. This strengthened my teamwork skills and increased my confidence in handling technical production tasks.

I regularly updated my blog and logbook throughout the month, which helped me reflect on my progress and improve my documentation skills. I also gained clearer understanding of final report requirements, including compiling all work into a website using Blogger and producing a final project video. This taught me the importance of organisation and proper planning.

Later, I was informed about an upcoming corporate video shoot in Pulau Tuba, which required preparation and planning for outdoor production work. This helped me understand the importance of being adaptable and prepared for field assignments.

The highlight of this month was a 4-day shooting project in Pulau Tuba for the Bestuba promotional video. During this project, I was involved in documenting tourism services, natural landscapes, and local community life. I also had the opportunity to appear as a talent, acting as a tourist experiencing activities such as riding motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs, and boats.

We also filmed various locations such as eagle-watching areas, bat caves, and buffalo farms. In addition, I interacted with local villagers, which gave me deeper insight into their daily lives and culture.

This project significantly improved my skills in outdoor shooting, teamwork, adaptability, and visual storytelling. It also taught me how to capture not just visuals, but the essence and narrative of a place.

Overall, this month was one of the most meaningful experiences of my internship, combining technical skills, field production, teamwork, and personal growth in media production.
